According to Peggy Ramin in the essay "Learning to Listen" she talks about her family being loud. You have to yell to get a word in. Peggy went to South Africa and learned how to listen. She listened to people's stories without saying anything. She just shut her mouth and opened her mind. She learned that there are many other peoples stories and saying then just her own. She knows when to focus on other people then just thinking about her self all the time. Peggy's mind set has changed since she went on the trip. She learned to listen to what is around her instead of being arrogant and in her own little world that's only about herself.
Certain people are very arrogant and only into themselves. If it does not interest them then they do not listen. They have a closed mind set on how they listen. More people should stop being so selfish and listen to others peoples stories because what they have to say might be very important. If you open up your mind to what's around you, you will see the world for what it really is and see what really is important in your life.
I listen to what is around me. Not all the time but most of the time. I see families having fun, laughing and just being happy. I understand that having an open mind and listening is very important because if you don't then you might miss out on a lot of things and most of the things might happen around you, and you don't even notice it until someone points it out. Open your mind and listen and you will be happy with what you see. It's guaranteed.

The ultimate sacrifice
According to Peter Godfrin in the essay "The ultimate sacrifice" he believes in giving up your life for your Country. People in USA take their life for granted. They do not realize what it took to get where they are now. Sargent Godfrin lost a man in Iraq. He doesn't know how to deal with it emotionally. The army never thought him on how to deal with it if you lost someone in war. Sargent Godfrin continues to put his life in danger for his country. He hopes that no one forgets the sacrifices people in the services have made.
Many people do not know how it is in the forces. They think there life is great and don't really pay any attention on what it took to get there. They never acknowledge all the people that put there life's at risk everyday, just so we can have a good life.
Everyone should take time out of there day to thank someone that has put there life out on the line for us. Let them know that we appreciate everything that they have done for us.

The triumph of kindness
According to Josh Stein in the essay "The triumph of kindness" he says that when people come together it's a beautiful thing. When josh was seven, he was on a baseball team. They were playing there last game of the season. Josh was the last on to bat. Coach called him over and asked if his brother could bat for him. Josh's brother was disabled but everyone at the game cheered him on to a home run. The other team helped him win as well. Everyone came together and showed kindness to the disabled kid and made him as happy as he can be.
Many people today do not show kindness towards other. They are so wrapped up in there own world and social media that they do not see what is around them. People should come together more as a community because that way it will help everyone gain the value of kindness and help them feel better about themselves as an individual. The essay "The triumph of kindness" was a great example of how people can come together to make a little boys dream come true and just see him smile is rewarding enough.
I have seen people that are selfish and not very kind hearted. Everyone should help out and show kindness at least once in there life. So get involved in your community because even the smallest things can show all the kindness you have in your heart and it just might make a persons day.

homework
I feel like i am doing well in my classes by completing my work and showing up on time. I am getting my in class assignments and my online homework done such as aplia and blackboard. There are those days when too much homework is given out either on blackboard or aplia. I feel like i can give more time and attention to my homework if there was not as much work. When i keep up with my work I do feel great; however, when i do fall behind i feel stressed and sometimes pressured because i have to keep up with all the classwork and the homework. At times i want to quit because it is to much for me. I want to do good in my classes, i will do this by paying attention and studying more. I want to do good especially on all my work. I well get all of my work done and turned in on time. i am going to accomplish this goal by going to tutoring and English center for more help and a better understanding on my homework.

The Struggle
I am a college student. I'm in college because my parents forced me to go. I was told to go to college full time or move out. I decided to go to college and study Architecture because it is fascinating to me and I always see ways to improve houses and buildings. I am here in this writing class because it will help me make my English better for my career. This English class was recommended to me by First Year Experience (FYE). They told me it would be a great opportunity for me to take this English class. I thought this class was going to be small but hard. I feel comfortable in this class. There are some challenges for me, such as having visual memory problems. It means most things that I see I will not remember. It affects me because in English we do have to see a-lot of things to understand what we have to do. One way to address my problem is to constantly go over the material by myself until I understand it and not forget it. This class impacts me in a great way because it does give me great ways to study and remember stuff that will need later on in life. I am getting along just fine and I will pass this class.
